This region has the largest national park in North Macedonia - Mavrovo National Park, on the southern shore of Mavrovo Lake. The National Park has opened a tourist info center where tourists can get all the necessary information related to their stay and park offer. The second highest mountain in the Republic of North Macedonia, and the first mountain according to mountan areas, is Šara Mountain. It is a typical mountain with alpine terrain on high and steep peaks, with mountain lakes, high waterfalls, remnants of old valleys, but also flat areas.
