In 1538, Sersem Ali Baba begun the construction of the Tekke which was finished in 1538. This building (the Bektashi temple) was was later renamed to Arabi Tekke, meaning sanctuary or temple. With the renewal of the Tekke Complex, many different activities started to develop in various areas and the construction of many other facilities, known as the headquarters of the Islamic Bektashi cult. This Tekke also serves as a representative center in the field of culture, religion, education, etc. The complex of buildings is characterized by the fact that they are integrated into a unique harmonious whole. The buildings of the Arabati Baba Complex have various decorations, ornaments, reliefs, showcases, pergolas and more, giving the complex an oriental look. The buildings, besides the large number of decorations are enriched with many inscriptions with different content. The architectural form of each building is distinctive and its the most impressive features are the roofs, coumns, chimneys, the order of the buildings, the color of the facades, the details and other features of cultural value. In the courtyard of this complex there is a large green garden enriched with grass and various kinds of flowers with a pleasant scent. All these characteristics allows the oriental-style building complex to become special and stand out in the country and in the Balkans. This complex is comprised of: the Main Hospice, the Tekke Library, the winter house, the Tekke Oven and Kitchen, the main prayer room, the fountain, the Gray Tower, the Lodge (burnt), the Turbe, the Cemetery, the Troop House, Barn 1 and Barn 2.
